Post on Siemens' Facebook page! Then comment here to let us know you've taken action.

Now will you amplify your impact by posting on their Facebook page?

Siemens is a global brand and is very sensitive to public criticism.

Comment on any Siemens’ post, asking them to rule out working with Adani (the post where Siemens shares their dream to 'make cities more livable, industry more efficient and society more sustainable' would be a good one to comment on – that vision doesn’t align with supporting coal projects, does it?!)

Tips for your Facebook comment:

  • Keep it short and punchy – people (including from Siemens!) are more likely to read a shorter post than a really long one
  • Have a clear ask – ask Siemens to rule out working with Adani
  • Make it personal – after all, this is your message to Siemens! Make it unique to you. You might want to share why you care about stopping projects that will fuel climate damage, like Adani, and protecting our planet

I am REALLY DISAPPOINTED in you, Siemens, for not taking this opportunity to have a significant impact in the fight against continued and increased coal burning. It looks like a case of profits for a few over a contribution to addressing the desperate state the world is in due to human-induced climate change.

Thank you for your readable statement. However, if you are really committed to reducing CO2 emissions, you could be doing much better things, such as putting much more into speeding up the transition to increased renewable energy, not propping up the hugely damaging coal industry. The Adani coal mine is counter to these aims.

Also, please remember that the Paris Climate Agreement is more of a “lowest common denominator”, a minimum to be achieved, than a gold standard to aim for or be proud of meeting, given that the situation is almost certainly much worse than believed at the time, and that targets were argued down and down, and that the stakes for our precious planet are very high. The uncertainty around the severity of effects of climate change should not be used to water down actions, in the hope that the danger is at the lower end of the spectrum; rather a precautionary approach should be taken, because of the risk that it may well be at the higher end, with the huge consequences for all the people on our planet.

I send an email to the CEO of Siemens and posted the same text to their facebook page.
Dear Mr Kaeser,

in the face of the severe drought our country, Australia, has had to cope with for a few years now, the unprecedented and catastrophic bush-fires, bleaching of our coral reefs and the plain fact that these environmental disasters are directly linked to climate change, I beg you to reconsider helping Adani built their mega mine in Queensland by installing the rail signalling for the project. please help us safe our country and the planet. Please honour your claim to be a climate change conscious company.

Yours sincerely,
Ingrid Leusch

Shame on you! Had you refused to sign with Adani, as did other braver companies, you would have helped save Australian farmers, Australian wildlife and The Great Barrier Reef.
I shall boycott any product made by Siemens or containing Siemens components.

Can’t believe that a worthwhile, progressive company would support such a ruthless, out-of-date industry as Adani and increase the devastation of climate change.

Siemens, this statement does NOT align with supporting coal projects …. ‘make cities more livable, industry more efficient and society more sustainable’

Rule out working for Adani, it’s not too late!!!!

You are well aware that Australia is in the grip of unprecedented drought and fire and that Adani’s water hungry coal mining operation will be a huge drain on this precious and irreplaceable resource. You are also aware that the burning of the coal they will be mining is a significant contributor to the global warming that is in significant measure responsible for exacerbating the horrific drought and fire conditions Australia is now suffering. The Australian people have begged you not to prop up this harmful venture by providing a necessary service to enable its operation, but you have opted to go ahead with it in the interests of profit of people and our precious planet. How dare you!

To be clear, your company has just enabled a foreign billionaire to lean on subsidies from the Australian taxpayer to plunder a precious inland spring for coal, which, when burned, is estimated to emit 705 million tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere EACH YEAR. This is a project, that to go ahead, required the Queensland government to TRASH native title rights over the Galilee Basin. You are also enabling the certain extinction of an endangered bird, the Black Throated Swallow; voted ’Australia’s Favourite Bird’ in a national poll this year. This mine has been granted UNLIMITED ground and surface water for 60 years ~ a nice return on it’s political donations, right? How about you, Jeff Connolly, go and tell our farmers, who have to pay for the water collected in their dams, that you support Adani and that somehow, you have reconciled yourself with their grotesque water usage to wash coal in the face of an unprecedented drought that is bringing our farmers to their knees… and along with them our FOOD SECURITY. If you have children, I promise they will be DEEPLY ashamed of this decision which sits firmly on the wrong side of history. Well done Fossil Fools, the Siemens brand will now be forever associated with this ecocidal project.
