Post on Siemens' Facebook page! Then comment here to let us know you've taken action.

Now will you amplify your impact by posting on their Facebook page?

Siemens is a global brand and is very sensitive to public criticism.

Comment on any Siemens’ post, asking them to rule out working with Adani (the post where Siemens shares their dream to 'make cities more livable, industry more efficient and society more sustainable' would be a good one to comment on – that vision doesn’t align with supporting coal projects, does it?!)

Tips for your Facebook comment:

  • Keep it short and punchy – people (including from Siemens!) are more likely to read a shorter post than a really long one
  • Have a clear ask – ask Siemens to rule out working with Adani
  • Make it personal – after all, this is your message to Siemens! Make it unique to you. You might want to share why you care about stopping projects that will fuel climate damage, like Adani, and protecting our planet

I just reposted your suggested content for the email on their latest post, it said: The Galilee Basin – where the Adani mine is being built – is one of the biggest proposed coal mine expansions in the world
Digging and burning coal is the biggest driver of emissions and fuels the climate crisis. Climate damage is here now and the people of Australia are suffering with unprecedented bushfires and smoke clouding our biggest city!
Working on Adani makes Siemens complicit in climate damage
FYI the only other comment I saw on the post was someone else linking them to children going hungry!! The post they made was posted around 12 noon EST thurs may 13 2021. Keep up the great work!!!

Destruction of the earth, waterways, climate and indigenous culture in Australia, for Adani coal mining, does not fit Siemens stated vision which includes sustainable dreams

Siemens – I appreciate that as a company, you’re working towards becoming carbon neutral. Has anyone from the Siemens team looked at how the company’s greenhouse gas emissions compare to those forecast to be generated in association with the Adani Carmichael Coal Mine over its lifespan? I appreciate that emissions arising from Adani Carmichael won’t be generated by Siemens per se, but lets put what Siemens is supporting into context…
I understand that Siemens has a contractual obligation to fulfil. But surely the company’s sense of corporate social responsibility should be sounding alarm bells. There is now no ‘winning’ side of the fence for Siemens on this. What price does Siemens put on the ongoing negative PR, and damage to their corporate brand?

to me

I am writing because I am very concerned that your company is supporting the construction of the disastrous Carmichael coal project. Adani’s coal mine and rail line will fuel runaway global warming, threaten precious water resources and increase pressure on the already stressed Great Barrier Reef. I want you to confirm to me personally, and announce publicly that you will not put our climate, water and endangered species at risk by providing any further services to Adani’s polluting project.

The Carmichael mine poses numerous environmental risks including the depletion of groundwater, increased air pollution and increased industrialisation of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area coastal boundary.

The project is a major financial risk, requiring significant expenditure to build infrastructure to supply a declining thermal coal market.

Critically, the world is on the brink of triggering runaway climate change, and the Paris climate change agreement struck in 2015 aims to hold global warming to below 1.5˚C above pre-industrial levels. If we want a safe, liveable climate, we cannot allow Adani’s coal mine to open up one of the largest new thermal coal basins in the world.

The Carmichael coal mine has become one of the most controversial projects in the world, opposed by the majority of Australians with hundreds of thousands of people taking action to demonstrate their opposition. Any company associated with the project will be held accountable by the community. It is not worth risking your company’s reputation for this one project.

Again, I urge you to listen to the Australian public and to support a safe climate, which means making a public commitment that your company will not provide any further services to Adani’s destructive Carmichael coal mine and rail project. I expect your prompt reply.

Sincerely,

Jennie Bloom

Essentially asking how a multinational company such as Siemens can justify to be involved in developing new coal mines and also be involved in building coal fired power plants in developing countries. Profiting from it all, and eventually killing us all.
