Send an email to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese asking him to stop all new coal and gas projects like fracking the Beetaloo Basin and the Middle Arm gas hub so we can all enjoy a safe climate future.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has delivered a clear message to policymakers across the world: opening new fossil fuel projects will push us beyond a dangerous 1.5C rise in global temperatures, making climate-fuelled extreme weather more frequent and more severe.

Despite this, polluters are still planning to open new coal and gas projects in Australia. We need to speak out and stop them.

Here is a template to help you write your email:

"To the Prime Minister,

My name is ___ and I'm concerned that worsening climate impacts like extreme bushfires and floods will endanger Australia's communities and wildlife for decades to come unless we take bolder action now.

The biggest driver of climate damage like severe heatwaves and drought is digging and burning fossil fuels like coal and gas. The IPCC has made clear that opening new fossil fuel projects will push us beyond a dangerous 1.5C rise in global temperatures, making climate impacts more dire and more frequent.

Despite this, polluters are planning over a hundred new coal and gas projects in Australia, which is estimated to add 4.8 billion tonnes of emissions into the atmosphere by 2030.

Please act now to stop all new coal and gas projects in Australia.

Some of the most polluting planned projects include Woodside's Scarborough gas project off the coast of WA, fracking the Beetaloo Basin in the NT, and the Middle Arm gas hub in the NT. Alarmingly, your government has committed more than $1 billion of our public money to the Middle Arm gas hub.

Australia has incredible climate solutions ready to go that will take advantage of our abundant sun and wind, create future-proof jobs and replace coal and gas. Please ramp up investment in the solutions now so we can all enjoy a safe climate future.

Thank you for reading my email. I look forward to your response and your government taking bolder climate action moving forward, starting with stopping all new coal and gas projects in Australia.
