The first time I ever doorknocked I was scared. I felt like the only person I knew who cared about the environment, and I was worried people would be hostile.

I discovered something surprising and empowering though, which is that way more people care than I'd ever realised. Most people were just unsure how they could make a difference, or didn't trust their ability to help make change. And even the ones who weren't interested were polite.

Today I'm inviting you to join ACF and Environment Victoria on May 1 - we'll be knocking on doors and talking to people about what the election means for the environment. If you've never doorknocked before, don't worry - we'll start the day with training, pair you up with someone more experienced, and finish with food and a chance to share stories from the day!

Research shows that speaking to people face-to-face is one of the most effective things we can do to get them to take action, and it's one of the most powerful ways you can contribute in this election period. It's also a chance to meet other people from your area who care enough to act.

I hope you can join us!
