Join ACF and Renew Australia for All at the Deakin candidates forum to get a sense of the strengths and weaknesses of your election candidates and their nature and climate policies.

Which Deakin candidates will reform our broken nature laws to stop the bulldozing of our bush and protect our threatened plants and animals? Which candidate has the best policy to champion renewables to slash climate pollution and power bills now and reject the nuclear fantasy?

Get all the answers at the Deakin candidates forum!

There is nothing quite like seeing candidates on stage answering the hard questions from the community.

Your MC will be Susan Laukens, former Mayor and Councillor for Knox City Council (2020–2024) and proud advocate for sustainability, inclusion, and community well-being. We've invited all candidates standing for the federal electorate of Deakin to attend, and have so far heard from the following candidates that they'll be joining us on the night:

  • Matt Gregg (Labor Party)
  • Amy Mills (The Greens)
  • Jess Ness (Independent)

As part of the candidates forum we'll be putting on a free BBQ celebrating farmers producing food in ways that protect and restore nature. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options will be available. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase from the bar. The wonderful Yeng Galli Mullum choir will also be performing at the event. The BBQ is starting at 6pm and the panel discussion with candidates will begin at 6.45pm.

There is plenty of parking at the bowls club and it is a 10 minute bus ride from Ringwood Station. The venue is wheelchair accessible.

Seats are limited so book your seat (or seats!) now by RSVPing.

Candidate forums are a unique can’t-miss experience and one of the best ways to inform your vote.

They’re also one of the most powerful opportunities to show politicians just how much the community cares about a particular issue. Hundreds of ACF supporters attended forums with their local politicians last year to raise the profile of and demand for nature law reform. The Deakin candidate forum is our chance to keep growing that momentum!

Before this election, let’s get the ear of our candidates, let’s show up to show them that the community they want to represent demands urgent action to stop extinctions and create a safe future for our communities.

These forums are also great spaces to meet likeminded community members, and we’ll have time for you to connect both before and after the formal proceedings.

We hope to see you there.
