To the Queensland government,

From droughts to bushfires, Queenslanders are living with the impacts of climate damage here and now.

Queensland can be a leader in clean energy. We could be powering our homes, our towns and our economy with good energy and new jobs, powered by the wind and the sun.

If Queenslanders own our clean energy, we can create thousands of jobs we can be proud of and bring down power prices.

We are calling on you to make public investment in big renewable projects a priority, and act now to:

  1. Get on with climate action: set stronger pollution reduction targets, and rapidly replace coal-fired power with clean energy
  2. Build publicly-owned renewables, starting construction of at least one large project by mid-2020.
  3. Plan and fund a fair transition for workers in the energy sector.

Let's get on with it!

Why isn’t Australia leading the world in renewable energy research? We could do more than we are doing now.

More needs to be done to replace coal fired power stations with renewable energy. Big investment needs to be directed to renewable energy in Queensland.

You will earn respect and votes by leading in this critical transition. Regional and rural jobs can be created in these new industries. Be visionary, not beholden!

It is also time to stop Adani and other coal mines before it’s too late.

Construction of publicly-owned renewables must start quickly now as time is running out if we want to halt the effects of coal-fired energy on our climate!

Please dump coal and natural gas projects in favour of large scale renewable power such as solar and battery backup systems like the one in Hornsdale, SA. Investing in distributed power with a project such as the SA Home Battery Scheme would also be a great move. Lastly, please consider rebates for EVs, and push for a removal of Luxury Car Tax for all EVs.
