To the Queensland government,

From droughts to bushfires, Queenslanders are living with the impacts of climate damage here and now.

Queensland can be a leader in clean energy. We could be powering our homes, our towns and our economy with good energy and new jobs, powered by the wind and the sun.

If Queenslanders own our clean energy, we can create thousands of jobs we can be proud of and bring down power prices.

We are calling on you to make public investment in big renewable projects a priority, and act now to:

  1. Get on with climate action: set stronger pollution reduction targets, and rapidly replace coal-fired power with clean energy
  2. Build publicly-owned renewables, starting construction of at least one large project by mid-2020.
  3. Plan and fund a fair transition for workers in the energy sector.

Let's get on with it!

We ask the Qld Government to honour its commitment to support wholeheartedly our states movement towards sustainable energy production, clean choices which embrace the people’s desire and stated need to have our electricity produced by the sun, and wind . Let Qld lead Australia’s efforts.

I would like to have solar powering my house, but as an aged pensioner I cannot afford it, so I call on the Queensland government to implement solar & wind power as a replacement for coal-fired power. Renewables are the only way to reduce the effects of climate change which has been so dramatically evident these last few months.

We need to be leaders at the forefront in renewable energy industries not have a government that has to be prodded at every turn! Come on! Time to be brave! For the sake of our planet’s future! NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT!!!

I began writing letters of encouragement to both Stae and Federal governments about clean power when I was just 17 years old. I am now 60 years old and I’m still waiting for someone to stand up and put us on the road to clean, sustainable energy.
