To the Queensland government,
From droughts to bushfires, Queenslanders are living with the impacts of climate damage here and now.
Queensland can be a leader in clean energy. We could be powering our homes, our towns and our economy with good energy and new jobs, powered by the wind and the sun.
If Queenslanders own our clean energy, we can create thousands of jobs we can be proud of and bring down power prices.
We are calling on you to make public investment in big renewable projects a priority, and act now to:
- Get on with climate action: set stronger pollution reduction targets, and rapidly replace coal-fired power with clean energy
- Build publicly-owned renewables, starting construction of at least one large project by mid-2020
- Plan and fund a fair transition for workers in the energy sector
Let's get on with it!

It really is time for government to take action – and quickly, to really earn respect from its communities and the rest of the world.
This is your chance to shine, Annastacia
There are more jobs in renewables than in coal mining. Existing Coal contracts should not be extended nor renewed.
An all encompassing economic plan should be drawn up to develop Mackay, Townsville and Rockhampton economies towards agriculture, timber, mineral mining. Most emphatically do not open the Galilee Basin to further coal mining.
I want a government that listens to the demands of our people, environment and global community. If Australian states such as Tasmania rely on sustainable energy sources for 93% of its total energy expenditure, surely Queensland and Australia as a whole can lead the world in renewable energies, opening up so many jobs and opportunities for our country. I’m sick of the anxiety and depression that inaction on climate change causes me personally and many of my friends and family.
Keep your promise to us Queenslanders!!!
Please let us move to clean energy
I think this summer has made it pretty obvious to everyone that we need action and now! Politicians will be judged on their action or inaction.
It’s about time something was done proactively rather than scrabbling to find solutions to a problem after it’s too late to fix
