This month our regular Nature Walk and Talk will be a week earlier and take a slightly different form.

Within ACF's Campaign to 'Save our Big Backyard' our Chisholm group is supporting the Southern Brown Bandicoot, an endangered animal which used to be common in our area.  We are asking everyone including our Federal MP Carina Garland to be a champion for the bandicoot and work for stronger nature laws to protect it.

The Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne has a community of Southern Brown Bandicoots and an education program to help people understand the needs of this species. It's the closest colony remaining near Melbourne.  We will be telling you more about the bandicoots at the begining of the event.  We can't be sure we will see any bandicoots during our visit but if we walk quietly and keep our eyes open there is a good chance.

ACF's  Wild-at-Art-competition  for children is  focusing attention on the plight of all our endangered Australian Animals. After the introduction local Art Teacher, Sofia Wang, will be leading a class within the gardens, which contain many vistas and spectacular flowers as well as the bandicoots.

For those not joining the art class we will be leading groups walking around the gardens.

A more detailed information sheet will be distributed when you RSVP.
