ACF Malvern is hosting a nature champions event for children of all ages, focussing on the engaging gang gang cockatoo.

Champions_July23event

Due to the 2020 bushfires, and an ongoing loss of habitat, the gang-gang cockatoo was listed as endangered in 2022. It's a bird you might associate more with hills and woodlands rather than the inner suburbs of Melbourne. Even so, the Gardiners Creek area currently hosts a gang-gang population that appears to be growing.

Children will learn fun facts as well as being able to identify the gang-gang by its call and appearance. The aim is to get children excited about nature in their local area.

Activities include:

  • finger painting with Serene Kitchen Art. (please bring an old shirt to put over clean clothes for this!)
  • know that bird call
  • origami, drawing & colouring in

Come and find out more about the gang-gang, and celebrate its presence in our area.

Please register your interest so that we have an idea of attendee numbers.

An optional gold coin donation to help cover expenses would be appreciated.

NB: it is a requirement that all children are accompanied by at least one parent or guardian
