This week we've learned that tech company Siemens is considering a dirty deal with Adani.
Adani needs a company to install signalling on the 200km railway it will use to transport coal to the coast. Only a few companies in Australia can do this work – and all except Siemens have ruled it out!
Call any (or all!) of these Siemens offices and ask them to leave a message for Jeff Connolly (CEO Siemens Australia & Pacific) and Raphaelle Guerineau (CEO Siemens Mobility Australia & New Zealand). Ask them to rule out working on the climate-wrecking project.

Remember, you don't need to be an expert on climate damage or anything else! You have a right to make this call and share your concerns about Siemens supporting a climate-wrecking project. Here are some talking points to help your call:

Share your support for Siemens committing to the Paris Agreement to keep global temperature rise well below 2°C and pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5°C. Remind Siemens that helping Adani dig up and export coal for burning is incompatible with the Paris Agreement.

Mention that burning coal is the biggest cause of climate damage – and the Adani mine would open the Galilee Basin to one of the biggest expansions of coal mining on planet Earth.

Suggest that by backing clean energy and refusing to work on dangerous projects like coal mines, companies like Siemens can provide solutions to the climate crisis – not be part of the problem.

Call #1 to Seimens mobility Melbourne office: the receptionist was very polite and took my name, number and told me she would pass my message on
Call#2 Siemens Australia Head Office: The receptionist listened to my concerned and assured me the call and my concerned would be recorded and passed on.
They told me to refer to the statement on the website. I said that I read that statement and I am even more concerned. It seems they are justifying this gross treatment of our environment by acknowledging the beneficial things that have been done By Siemens. She said she would pass that on to management. How will she pass that on I wonder?
I made 2 calls. The one to national number the lady just thanked me and suggested I read statement on website.
The Melbourne office took my number and message and was passing it on. (apparently)
Spoke to someone at head office and the mobility office. The receptionist sounded harrassed and the calls were short.
I was referred to the Statement on Siemens’ website. I phoned back to check if this was the latest and ‘reviewed’ statement of Siemens as it was dated 11/12/19, and the person advised that they had nothing more to add. I left my name and email address.
Quick and polite but was instantly referred to a statement on their website to which I replied that I understand that the project has not yet been ruled out so would like my concerns to be communicated to executive level
Said they would pass my concerns to management and that there was a statement on their website.
Good. Just said that I was calling to ask that their company not work with Adani and that they may be regarded as a pariah company if the proceed. I was told the message would be given to management. All calm (poor person on the phone)
I rang all 3 numbers. Reception at Head Office gave me an email address and was not prepared to let me talk to anyone. The woman who answered the Mobility office number hung up on me and then the number was switched to an answering machine, where I left a VM. Reception at Corporate Enquiries said she would pass my message on to management.
I also sent an email to Siemens in Germany and received a response with a link to their official response:

From my reading of this I would be very wary to think that Siemens is likely to withdraw their support from the coal mine. .
A brief call to make them aware that I disapprove of their involvement with Adani.
Respectfully presented and received. gave them my contact phone number.
Left VMs asking message to be passed on that Siemens could risk severe reputational damage that could affect its broader business operations in the future by being associated with this project.
Please help us look after the environment for our kids to enjoy.
This just has to stop. How very future now rests on Siemens pulli g out, as once thos ki e goes ahead because of the rail, there are up to 9 I believe waiting i. the wi gs. Life on This Planet simply cannot survive that

Left 1 message on VM & spoke with reception person politely explaining my anti-Adani stance & asking for responsible stewardship & this to be passed on to management. She said she would.

I called an left messages with each number. Polite but focused on the threat to our reef and our futures from coal.
I called all three numbers with a message to be passed on the the CEO that this environmentally destructive project should not go ahead. Msg politely received in each case.

I spoke to the switchboard operator: I stated that I would like to lodge my concerns about Siemens’ plans to work on the Adani coal mine and rail project. She then took my name, and said my number wouldn’t be necessary, but she took it down anyway. She was polite, and they obviously have a list of people calling, but she wasn’t interested in listening to anything further I had to say.
