The Labor Party is still tying themselves in knots about Adani. They need to hear from us encouraging them to reject this polluting coal mine.
This is Labor’s Franklin River moment. This decision will go down in Australian environmental history. The ALP are so close, but we need to get them over the line.
Give them the courage and confidence to make the right decision!
Will you call one – or many! – of these key people in Labor's Cabinet and encourage them to make a clear public statement opposing this dangerous mine?
Calling tips
- When you call, you might speak to a staffer. Ask them to leave a message for the Shadow Minister. If you can't get through, keep trying!
- Be polite and encouraging – we want them to make a good decision!
- Talk about why you care about this
- Be specific – ask them to make a clear public statement opposing Adani's mine

30/5/2019 office of Bill Shorten statement on Adani mine
“THERE ARE DECISIONS TO BE MADE – LABOUR WILL MAKE THEM ON THE BEST AVAILABLE INFORMATION. AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW WE WONT RIP UP CONTRACTS OR CREATE ANY KIND OF SOVEREIGN RISK. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF APPROVALS AND CONDITIONS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT. LABOUR DOESN’T SUPPORT SPENDING TAX PAYERS MONEY TO OPEN NEW COAL MINES. WOULD DEFINITELY NOT SUPPORT GIVING ACCESS TO THE ACQUIFIER.’ Offcie of Bill shorten statement when i called on 30/5/2019
Sonia Nadi
I was told that he is not making any statements about Adani under the advice of his lawyers.
Spoke to Bill Shorten staffer. I mentioned that I have previously been an ALP voter but will not vote for them while they support Adani and other Qld mega-mines.
Reject the polluting coal mine. Stop Adani’s mine for the future generations of this country. We have to think of the future of our planet, and the environment our children are going to one day inherit. Stop Adani’s mine and all the infrastructure to allow it to proceed.
Anthony Albanese call went very well. Bill Shorten went ok I guess
Tanya Plibersek I spoke to an aide who said they would pass on the message.
Tanya Plibersek – left a message with secretary who took my details and promised to pass them on. Likewise for A. Albanese. Both their 1st phone numbers didn’t answer at all. Cheers Anke
Tanya Plibersek – I left a msg on the voice mail
All receptionists were courteous & said they would pass on my message. Jim Charlmers – Pip took my number & called me back so she could tell me Labor’s policy, which does not oppose the project outright. Shayne Neumann – I was asked my name & do I live in Blair & have I spoken to my local member about this. (yes!)
Bill Shorten – I spoke to Jacob.
Called Tanya Plibersek and spoke to staffer Lauren. I told Lauren that I did not expect to speak to Tanya herself wanted my message passed to her that Labor MUST get its voice together to oppose the Adani mine for all the Climate Protection Reasons she must know well. Lauren said she would definitely make sure my message was passed to her.
Shorten. Polite male secretary.
Message will be passed on
Bill Shorten – staffer tried to tell me there was a place for coal as we need electricity. I told him there was not a place anymore.
I’d like to tell Geoff Cousins he has now lost any credibility he had. 730 has been out to get Bill Shorten for past 3 yrs and he managed to allow her to twist words and now Parl Trashing him. These LNP politicians are pigs..and he just fed them… SHAME ON YOU ALL
Called offices of Bill Shorten, Tanya Plibersek, Chris Bowen, Tony Burke and Anthony Albanese. All assured me they would pass on my concern
Bill shortens’s office, Spoke to a very nice man who was very pleased to hear that I support the labour parties opposition to the Adani mine in queensland. He said he would pass that on.
Bill Shorten. I spoke with the receptionist who listened to my concerns. She said that my message will be passed onto Mr Shorten.
Bill Shorten & Tanya Plibersek. Spoke to staffer. Went Ok. Said messag s would be passed.
Called Tanya and spoke to a staff member. I gave her many reasons why Adani must be stopped, not the least being the company’s disgraceful international reputation as environmental bandits. I explained that I am taking my children on a road trip to the Reef this year, because I am afraid it will not be there for them to explore as adults.
Chris Bowen and Tanya Plibersek.
Called Shorten’s office and asked them to pass him on a message that I don’t support the mine for various reasons, and asked them release a clear public statement opposing it. The staffer was quite short with me and ended the call as quickly as she could, saying she’d “take it on board”.
