Report back your calls

Together let's show GHD that the majority of Australians don’t want Adani’s climate-wrecking mine and rail project. Working with Adani would be a bad idea. Not just for our planet – but for GHD’s reputation, too.

Call.
Leave your message.
Hang up.
Repeat.

Calling tips

  • When you call, you will speak with someone at reception. Politely ask them to pass on your message to CEO, Ashley Wright.
You may be asked to direct your message to their website, leave your message with reception.
  • Be friendly and polite! Our concern is with GHD’s decision to work with Adani, not its employees.
  • Ask for GHD to rule out working on Adani’s coal mine and rail project in any capacity. Climate damage is here, now – we must end digging and burning coal.
  • Share your support for GHD’s work on clean energy projects and support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Commend their commitment to “environmentally and socially responsible operations” and remind them that Adani’s coal project is at odds with building a better world.
  • Ask GHD staff what they think, see if you share common views.
  • These calls don’t have to be long – the sheer number of calls is what will have an impact, so feel free to make it quick so you can get through as many as you can!

Called Adelaide – spoke with Chelsea – initially Chelsea refused to confirm that Ashley Wright was the CEO but eventually confirmed the identity of the CEO after discussing the matter with someone else in the office.

I noted that:-
- I had read the statement re GHD’ s interaction with Adani that appears on the GHD website and also notes GHD’s commitment to environmental sustainability
- the appalling environmental track record of Adani in relation to mining activity in Africa, in relation to its activities in India, its home country and its record to date in Australia

I requested that the CEO respond to the following question:-

“Given GHD’s stated position as a responsible environmental citizen, how does GHD reconcile this position with entering into contractual relationships to provide advice relating to the construction of large scale mining operations for Adani, a known abuser of environmental regulations?”

Chelsea undertook to pass my message to the CEO.

Adelaide – spoke with Chelsea – requested she pass on the message to CEO that I think GHD working with Adani is a bad idea because of global warming effects of coal. She had no comment on the matter, referred me to website.

I rang Sydney and just stated that I wanted the CEO Ashley Wright to know I disapprove of their collaboration w Adani and to put my name on the list of those who have already rung (a lot by then I think). The receptionist was polite but seemed a bit over the idea. I felt a bit sorry for her so I didn’t go on! Our Stop Adani group in Albury in Southern NSW has approached our local GHD office, but they say their local office has nothing to do w decisions made about mining contracts.

I Called the Melbourne number. “Not able to take message.” Directed me, very pleasantly, to the feedback option on their website.

Alice White. Calls were fine. I called Sydney, Perth, Hobart, Adelaide, Townsville. Melbourne wouldn’t take a message and directed me to the website. Geelong was diverted to Melbourne and Launceston and Hobart I think were answered by same person

GHD Melbourne wouldn’t take a message and directed me to their website. The ‘contact’ option didn’t work using my touchpad. I called GHD Melbourne again and was advised that only a mouse could activate the feedback option when hovered over the word ‘contact’ and that there was no other way to make contact.

Emailed instead- Good Afternoon, sadly I am writing you regarding your proposed involvement with any Adani project here in Australia or elsewhere if future plans are on the cards? Please view overhead pics of what is occurring, pictures do not lie. It cannot be fathomable that any government or company would agree to more and potential devastating acts as any future and current Adani project will result. If GHD is going into bed with Adani then please re-write your environmental/sustainability perspective on your website to include, we are in favor of on-going destruction of the planet by our support of Adani.

Sydney
Talked to Jessi (maybe Jackie from previous comments I read here).
She sounded like she is having a hard day.
She listened to my message though, asked for my details, said she would pass the message to the CEO and suggested reading their GHD Carmichael webpage.
