The Morrison Government committed Australia to a target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
It's a welcome shift, but not enough.
The science is clear. We need to cut climate pollution by more than half this decade – for our children, for our communities, for our future. And we need ambitious targets and policies to get us there.
It’s time to act. Right now, climate is the headline issue in Australia. We must seize the opportunity. Both major parties’ current climate plans focus on 2050 – together let’s shift their goalposts to 2030 and climate action now.
We need to act today for a safe climate. Call your local MP and call on them to cut climate pollution by more than half this decade!
Making your call
Call your local MP's office. You will likely speak to a staffer. Be clear, polite and friendly. If you go to a voice mail system, leave your message there.
Introduce yourself briefly (e.g. your name and location.) Tell the staff you would like to leave a message for your MP.
Make your ask. Ask that your MP takes action to cut climate pollution by more than half this decade. Ways they can do this: support MP Zali Steggall's Climate Change Bill; deliver climate solutions like powering our cars, buses and trains with clean energy from the sun and wind.
