This Sunday our meeting at Banyo Library will cover two big topics and we want you to hear your views.
As the Banyo Pilot Project draws to an end, our group's verge garden project for the Brisbane Northside and MBRC region continues with working bees, nursery visits, verge garden visits and other activities. These will be in all suburbs including Banyo.
There are lots of ways to participate - from doing your own verge garden, to joining and organising working bees, to taking photos and making videos and storytelling. If you are interested in participating in any way, please flag your interest using this online form.
In 10 years time, we'll have many more people living in our suburbs. The Olympics will be over and whatever changes they bring will remain. Our governments may or may not have taken action to address the causes and effects of climate change.
It's natural to be worried, and easy to be gloomy.
But what if we, as individuals, groups and society, could take this as an opportunity to create sustainable suburbs that are good for everyone, especially our children and grandchildren? How could we do that? What do we need to preserve and what would we cheerfully say goodbye to? What could we improve or adapt? If we all worked together to make a better future, what would it look like?
Our group is looking at ways to encourage a series of community conversations about the directions we want to take in this region. Will you join in the conversation?
