The elusive Greater Bilby is one of Australia’s most threatened animals. It’s also one of our most-loved, despite the fact many of us have never seen one.
But land clearing for profit threatens their survival. To survive, greater bilbies need safe habitat to call home.
By speaking up and signing the open letter to get big money out of politics, you will be sending a strong message to our elected representatives that it’s time we create a healthy, thriving democracy that’s good for people and planet.
Every signature gets us closer to a democracy that:
Caps political donations by corporations to curb unfair influence.
Reports donations as they happen so we are all informed.
Includes an independent body to investigate and stamp out corruption.
When big money and politics mix, nature loses out.
Sign the open letter: call on our elected representatives to get big money out of our political system, and put people and planet back in.

Open letter
To our elected representatives,
We call on you to work together to get big money out of our political system and put people back in.
This means:
Banning large donations to political parties and candidates.
Increasing the transparency of political donations, including real time reporting of donations.
Limiting expenditure at election times so corporations can’t use their oversized wallets to drown out our voices.
Creating an independent watchdog to investigate and stamp out corruption.
Stronger lobbying regulation and greater transparency so we know who’s meeting with our elected representatives and why.

This is deeply alarming that the WA government allow such environmental depredation which threatens key habitat of the bilby! Please reconsider this permit to clear this massive area right now.

Looks like Australian governments are proud of Australia’s extinction ranking. With this effort Australia might even climb higher.

We never get them back once they’re gone. If they become extinct it will be to our eternal shame.

When are we going to get it that we can’t keep destroying the homes of the other species that live on earth to feed/house or provide for more human species.

It is time large corporations are prevented from buying their way to destroy our unique environment for their own financial gains, much of which is sent overseas.

When will the leaders of this country realise and value the unique fauna and flora that this country is so lucky to have? It doesn’t prosper by itself – it needs support and funding to maintain. Let our unique animals thrive, please.

Whilst I do not live in Western Australia, politicians need to listen to the wider public because we still care about what’s happening and should be able to have our voices listened to. Habitat destruction for beef production is unacceptable.

This is blatant political corruption driven by corporates.
Our votes will depend on the government’s decision.

What we need is nature protection, not more land clearing and loss of habitat for animals. What we also in need of is to eliminate political donations by corporates with deep pockets who seem to be able to work their way around protections and any kind of restrictions! It seems that if you don’t succeed at first, try, try and try again and governments seem to buckle under the weight of the donations!
