BHP is holding their AGM in Melbourne this Thursday.
Will you come down to the quick snap action to call for BHP to quit the Minerals Council and oppose Adani’s mine?
This action will be fun, bright and family-friendly. Inside the AGM, a group of BHP shareholders will ask BHP to leave the coal cheer squad Minerals Council. Outside, the community will gather for some short speeches, a media photo opportunity and lots of colour to deliver our message.
WHEN: Tomorrow, Thursday 16 November from 9.30-11am
WHERE: Garden Square, Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne VIC 3000
BRING: Your friends and family, signs and sunscreen
Who is the Minerals Council of Australia?
The Minerals Council lobbies for the interests of big polluters by trying to dictate the public debate with their deep pockets. They have called for environment groups like ACF to lose our rights to advocate, stripped of our charity status, and take away your right to give a tax-deductible donation.
Millions of Australians support environment groups and community organisations through advocacy, membership and donations. Civil society includes thousands of big and small groups who speak out for the common good. This make our democracy stronger.
Together we can change the rules so they work for the many, not the few.
This independently run event is hosted by our movement partner 350.org.
