In the next few weeks, the Turnbull government could hand over $1 billion of public money to prop up Adani’s giant polluting megamine.
ACF supporter Sharon France thinks this is an outrageous use of public money, so she's come up with the Australian People's Bank of Better Ideas.
Sharon recalls, "I literally woke up one morning thinking, 'If everyone could spend $1 billion on something beneficial, what would they fund? Certainly not a loan to a billionaire for a coal mine.'"
We’re helping Sharon gather ideas for better ways to use $1 billion of public money.
When all your ideas are in, Sharon will send a report highlighting the most popular and creative suggestions to our Prime Minister.
Australians don't want their public money used to prop up Adani's giant coalmine. Our elected representatives have the choice to invest in public good, not private greed.
So what are your ideas for better ways to use $1 billion of public funds?

more money for aged care, schools, domestic violence agencies, homeless, mental illness, cfs/me research, public transport, green energy, tafe and university students, apprenticeships, foreign aid – stop giving our tax dollars to corporations.
Provide a basic income for every citizen, then establish free universities staffed mainly by community volunteers and paid leaders in their field. Also run free community programs for teaching real skills to young people and an innovative sustainable housing program which provides new estates for purpose-built single person eco-dwellings incorporating community gardens, solar power and a recycling centre for ALL goods and materials. Start with that!
Education, hospitals, homelessness. … etc etc etc
Spend it on encouraging the use of renewable energy and protecting the Great Barrier Reef from runoff from agriculture.
Public housing is the only way this housing shortage will be solved. Don’t leave it to the housing market. Invest in housing like a truly responsible government.

$1 billion could be much better spent on research and strategies to preserve the Great Barrier Reef, on ensuring every child and adult in Australia has access to affordable, quality education and housing, and creating new jobs in the sustainable energy area.

Anything that helps us Australians build better communities Nd produce renewable energy locally. We are Australia!!!

Dear Mr Turnbull
As a Farmer and Taxpayer my husband and I spend a portion of our hard earned money in supporting needy charities in Australia and overseas.
The thought that you are allowing this Foreign businessman to rape the Qld coast and further destroy our Great Barrier Reef is appalling !
Imagine how many lives you could transform with that money, feed the needy, plus put money into our hospitals and health programs to better educate those in low socio economic areas how to better eat and teach their children the same.
This is just way in which I can think that might help everyday Australians.
Mental health funding for adolescents
How about more substantial development of renewables
Rebates increased for batteries or solar panels added, and integrated solar and heat pump HWS systems.
More hospitals, better roads, better schools and help aged care and returned soldiers
Renewable energy research, putting solar panels everywhere for every application, including on car roofs, and developing reliable energy and water for remote Aboriginal communities
Additional funding for mental health services, particularly incentives to employers to employ people suffering from depression and anxiety. These people can be valuable additions to the work force, but often cannot manage to work regularly. Some days it is just too hard to get out the front door. Other days it is impossible to remain at work among people. We need to encourage employers to be flexible and work with the disabled, making the best use of their good days. As self respect and a sense of belonging and of being useful develops, support may be less necessary.
Hospitals, schools, university fees.
More funding for local councils so they dont need to cut much needed services like local libraries & other community services. Councils are wanting to cut these services in much needed country areas to avoid rate increases.
Or/and financial help to the qld & northern nsw flood victims who are still hurting, many businesses have closed & many prople cant afford to repare their homes!
Invest that money in renewable energy and jobs. Not those filthy environmental terrorists, Adani who will destroy our reef and tourism jobs in Nth Qld.
