In the next few weeks, the Turnbull government could hand over $1 billion of public money to prop up Adani’s giant polluting megamine.

ACF supporter Sharon France thinks this is an outrageous use of public money, so she's come up with the Australian People's Bank of Better Ideas.

Sharon recalls, "I literally woke up one morning thinking, 'If everyone could spend $1 billion on something beneficial, what would they fund? Certainly not a loan to a billionaire for a coal mine.'"

We’re helping Sharon gather ideas for better ways to use $1 billion of public money.

When all your ideas are in, Sharon will send a report highlighting the most popular and creative suggestions to our Prime Minister.

Australians don't want their public money used to prop up Adani's giant coalmine. Our elected representatives have the choice to invest in public good, not private greed.

So what are your ideas for better ways to use $1 billion of public funds?

Build a national network of charging stations for electric cars. Both Europe and the USA have made considerable progress on this endeavour. A great number of car manufacturers have developed vehicles for the plug-in electric car market but we do not have access to them as we don’t have the capacity to charge them away from home.
At least one car manufacturer has ceased the further development of diesel engines now.
Battery technology is bounding ahead in leaps and bounds. We need to catch up and move away from fossil fuels.

Schools, hospitals, health services, homelessness, along with a are swag-bag of worthy causes are crying out for funding.
Anything would be preferable to supporting the polluting Adani concept.

Renewables, or better still, put it towards helping to conquer Nuclear FUSION. Unlike Fission which can be unsafe and produces large amounts of waste, FUSION is extremely safe and produces little to no waste. Any waste that may be produced is short lived and decays to background levels in a very short time. With enough international commitment and funding FUSION would SOLVE the WORLDS energy problem and supply reliable power for millions of years. Unlike coal or gas power stations, the only natural resource needed for Fusion is sea water.

Spend the money on training doctors and affiliated health professionals. You will have a healthy and happy population and an industry that not only sustains the population but also has a huge financial spinoff

Large recycling centres set up in or near every capital city and in regional centres. These would be Government & community run centres of recycling excellence, that provide apprenticeships for unemployed youth and jobs for long term unemployed. They are not just for plastics, but also for supermarket food waste, that can be turned into compost, fertiliser and mulch and for a small fee can be either collected or delivered to collection points for community use. Also, as a business idea products could be sold to builders and other commercial interests at a profit.

How about investing that money on our country’s most vulnerable children: children in out-of-home care. The stats say that 50 per cent of kids ageing out of care will be unemployed, in prison, pregnant or homeless within a year. As a carer I’m constantly told that there is no budget to support these children. Imagine what a real support system could do – not just for them, but the future of our country. If the care system was adequately funded we could change the lives and futures of over 40,000 vulnerable children, their families and their communities – and change the shape of our country for the better.

In addition to climate change, one of the major threats to the integrity of the Great Barrier Reef is catchment run-off of nutrients, suspended sediment and pesticides.
One of the major source of suspended sediment is erosion in the catchment. ‘Hot spot’ sources have been identified, and repair methods are well known. A better use of the $1bn would be to undertake comprehensive catchment repair of identified erosion hot-spots. Methods are generally labour intensive and have the ability to generate local employment opportunities across wide regions.
Thus rather than spending the money on helping destroy the reef, the money would be spent on helping the reef recover.

Dear:
I am youssef EL Moujtahid, an inventor from Rabat, i came up with the perpetual motion generator. Its theory has been approved by the Ajman university, the NRF in Singapore and other professors. The prototype is under development and almost finished. It produces free, green and unlimited energy. It has an industrial usage.
i need to reach the director of research and interested parties for a future incubation in order to launch a start up that sells this modern form of energy, i may also consider other proposals.
This project brings sufficiency in terms of energy production and generates tremendous revenues.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Youssef

1) Incorporate jobseekers on the youth training/apprenticeship schemes (in carpentry, bricklaying, tiling etc) to work for the ‘Habitat for Housing’ organisation, & assist to build emergency shelters or Crisis Centres for people experiencing Homelessness and/or Domestic Violence. The jobseekers will learn the skills necessary to get their Trade Qualifications, & many people in crisis will be forever grateful for the acts of kindness.
2) Invest in the technology and infrastructure that could recycle a lot more quantity and types of rubbish that humans are currently discarding.
3) Invest in building more solar energy farms.
4) Health, Education & Conservation

Support and fund anything of benefit to human beings and all other sentient creatures; anything.
Do not support Adani. Supporting this irresponsible, selfish, greedy businessman is going in the very opposite direction Mr Turnbull, you should know better! You are supposed to be the Prime Minister of our country.
Get real man. Stop making a fool of yourself and your reputation in future history.
Get Real.
Support Renewable Energy for Australia. Go down in history as a Winner, not a foolish loser
Wake up before it’s too late.
