Westgate Biodiversity are facilitating a plant propagation day at their non-profit Bili Nursery located in Port Melbourne for 12 ACF supporters.

It is a unique opportunity to learn about Australian native propagation, as well as contribute to the plant stock which volunteers from the community have been planting into the Westgate Park at the monthly ACF Community Macnamara volunteer days.

To participate, all attendees must be able to attend a 9:30am safety induction at the nursery. We are unable to accommodate anyone arriving any later than this.

 

The activity: 

The propagation day is six hours at Bili nursery - 525 Williamstown Rd, Port Melbourne VIC 3207.

You will about learn about the native nursery and native plant propagation.

We will be planting 3 native plant species.

Approximately 1200-2000 seeds will be planted throughout the day.

BYO snacks and lunch. There is also a café close to nursery which sells food, coffee, refreshments.

The event is free of charge.

IMPORTANT NOTE: A maximum of 12 people can attend. We will be accepting the first 12 RSVP'S. A confirmation email will will be sent within 3 days to confirm if you have a place at the event.

 

The schedule:

9:30 am               Safety induction and tour of Bili Nursery.

10:10 am             Introduction to 3 planting/propagation activities.

Small groups of 3-4 people will rotate between 3 different activities throughout the day.

Morning break.

Planting/propagation activities

Lunch break for 30 mins.

3:30 pm               Event finishes.

 

ACF Community Macnamara is part of a network of independently organised, volunteer-run groups in the ACF community. ACF will pass on your contact details to the host for the purpose of running the event.
 
It's up to all of us to slow the spread of COVID-19. Please stay home and do not attend this event if you feel unwell or if you are showing any COVID symptoms (fever, shortness of breath, flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat or fatigue).
