All details are below.

The AGM will be short as it is our first.

At the meeting, members will be asked to:

  • Elect committee members and, from that committee,
  • Decide who will be our Coordinator, Treasurer and Secretary.

The work of the positions is actually light, and at this stage, it is not expected that the jobs will require no more than a an hour or two a fortnight.

Please consider nominating for the committee, or specifically for the Coordinator’s, Secretary’s or Treasurer’s job if you are able to help.

At the meeting, members will have the opportunity to:

  • Find out about our Perth local group
  • Ask questions about the group and our budget
  • Speak about any items on the agenda
  • Vote on any resolutions proposed.

The AGM will be followed by a 45-minute presentation at 7.15pm by Mike Norman Coordinator, "Friends of Sorrento Beach & Marmion Foreshore".  He will talk about how the coastal dunes were restored in the Northern Suburbs along West Coast Drive.

Mike took the lead in restoring this coastline through hard work, innovation, local government support and most importantly with a host of volunteers.  At the end of this emails is our agenda and a short bio about Mike.

While we would love you to come in person to the AGM and to Michael’s presentation, you can also join on ZOOM.  The link here: https://acf.zoom.us/j/3088344750

Please email, text, or call me if you are able to nominate as a committee member.  Our group is small.  However, the small team’s experience and wealth of knowledge is big.  Please consider becoming a part of that team.

Regards

Julie, Maureen and Pippin

Mike’s Bio

Michael has been a member and monthly donor to ACF for decades, in order to assist ACF's advocacy on wider environmental issues. He also donates to a number of other environmental and humanitarian organisations. Michael, now retired, worked as a professional electrical engineer, but at the same time he has volunteered very actively in landcare and coast care activities for over 40 years, and currently coordinates both coast care and bush care projects. He lives as sustainably as he can, living in a sustainable home – low power and water usage, low consumption (“minimalist”), low waste generation, and a “flexitarian – two thirds of meals involve no animal products (or very little). He often uses a bike for transport and toured both in Australia and overseas by bike. For the last decade he has been instructing cycling skills for both children and adults (on a part time basis) to promote sustainable transport and personal fitness. His presentation "Twenty years of coast care in Sorrento and Marmion – what has been achieved and what is yet to be done” describes his coast care project covering some 2.5km of coastline through the suburbs of Sorrento and Marmion which has seen a huge improvement in condition of the coastal reserve while involving and educating many people. He is happy to chat about any other aspect of his approach to living sustainably on this planet during social time.
