Right now, multinational mining company Adani wants to build one of the biggest coal mines in the world in Queensland. If it goes ahead, it will create billions of tonnes of pollution, make global warming far worse and irreversibly damage our Great Barrier Reef.
This means massive sea level rises and more coral bleaching, storms, drought and bushfires.
The campaign to stop Adani’s mega mine is our line in the sand and is being led by Australians from all walks of life.
Communities are suffering the impacts of global warming right now while our politicians and big banks are pandering to the coal industry.
Stopping the Adani mega coal mine is the first step in breaking the shackles of the polluting coal industry so Australia can create a future powered by sun, wind and waves.
The #StopAdani campaign is the beginning of the biggest movement ever in Australia.
ACF community is a network of independently organised groups taking local action as part of ACF's national purpose and shared values. This year local groups will be campaigning to get our local MPs and Westpac branch managers speaking out publicly and pressuring their organisations to get out of coal and into clean energy.
At this meeting we will be developing a local activities plan and timeline for Kooyong. If your local MP is Josh Frydenberg, or you live near the electorate of Kooyong, join this action group.
