Come platypus spotting with us in Centennial Park! Granted we haven't managed to spot one on our previous platy-project walks, but, as they say, you never know your luck in a big city!
Every year in September, ACF groups around this big beautiful brown land go out into the wild and look for that fantastically unique creature known to us as the playtpus. Our groups record what we see on the UNSW platypus sighting database. That, in a nutshell, is ACF's Platy-project. We are raising awareness around the decline in number of these amazing creatures whilst at the same time increasing our knowledge about their habitat and spread around Australia.
Join us on our annual Platy-project walk in Centennial Park, led by our very own Ruth who has been volunteering as a bush regenerator in the park for years. You will learn about the native plants of the park, do some bird watching 🦆 with our resident bird photographer Timo, and hang out with fellow nature lovers which is always a refreshing break from the hurly-burly of Sydney life. We will be meeting at the pond opposite the Spruce Goose Diner on Parkes Drive in the park.
Bring you binoculars, bring your cameras and bring your lunch if you'd like to picnic after the walk.
We'd love to see you there!
