Join us as we bring the platy-project to Centennial Park!

In partnership with scientists at UNSW, ACF are asking local groups and individuals to get out to their local waterways and try to spot platypus. This data will then give scientists a greater understanding of current platypus populations, and will contribute to broadening our knowledge of one Australia's most-loved native animals.

While we may not get many platypus in Eastern Sydney, we do have a gorgeous park that is full of other flora and fauna at risk of extinction!

Join us for a tour of Centennial Park. We'll head through grey-headed flying fox habitat, try and spot some eels, and have fun along the way.

We'll have a picnic by the water and keep an eye out for platy, just in case!

It has been a little while since we have been able to host a picnic like this and we look forward to seeing a combination of fresh and familiar faces.

All are welcome, there is no required level of experience or involvement in the group. We actively encourage new environmentalists and families at this event, it should be a lot of fun and there will be plenty to occupy the kids with the citizen-science project and the open space of Centennial Park (it could be a good idea to bring the bikes and scooters).

We will be meeting at the Spruce Goose Diner in Centennial Park at 10:00AM. We cannot wait to see you!
