During September, ACF is hosting a platypus month of action, encouraging people from all walks of life to get out to their local waterways and try to spot platypus. Why? ACF has partnered with leading scientists at the University of New South Wales to track platypus population.

In going out and spotting (or not spotting) platypus and recording that data on the platy-project websitethe ACF community is helping scientists better understand the size of platypus populations and the support they need to thrive.

All are encouraged to come along and help us spot platypus, colouring-in sheets and origami will be provided for kids (or adults) as well.  Please feel free to bring any snacks/nibblies. We will be meeting at the Narara Ecovillage and then will access the Narara Creek through the Strickland Arboretum.

Key details:

  • We will be meeting at the Village Hall, just inside the gates of the Narara Ecovillage
  • We will be working on designated paths, however sturdy shoes are recommended. Sun-safe clothing, hats, water, sunscreen and insect repellant are also recommended.
  • We will be screening the film On the Brink afterwards at the Village Hall. There will be coffee and snacks available for purchase.
