Our networking events at The Black start with a 30-minute presentation about a topic that has environmental relevance and is aligned with our objectives and goals. We hope to trigger off a thought process and discussions about how the topic connects with your own ideals and objectives.

After the presentation, there will be time for everyone to network with people from different organisations and disciplines and see what ideas and collaborations emerge. We are certain there will opportunities to meet and liaise with lots of interesting people in the process.

Where: Collingwood Black, 35 Collingwood St, Albion, QLD 4010

When:  Tuesday, 23 November, 6pm-8pm. (fourth Tuesday of the month)

Speakers: Natalie Rayment and David Uhlmann

Topic: YES TO GOOD DEVELOPMENT

YIMBY Qld is part of a growing, global YIMBY network.

We want housing to be available to everyone, and so our message is simple: we say YES TO GOOD DEVELOPMENT.

As house prices and rents escalate, YIMBYs are a voice for people asking, “What is my future in this city?” We want more housing, different types of housing, and the businesses and services that make our cities and regions work. More housing in different forms improves affordability and ensures more people can live in a home appropriate to their lifestyle.

However, YIMBY Qld is not yes to anything and everything; quality is important. We want to inspire good development outcomes that feature one or more of the YIMBY Qld qualities: COMMUNITY DIVIDEND, INNOVATION, SUSTAINABILITY, AND DESIGN EXCELLENCE.

Please note:
We had received questions regarding the format of our community networking events at The Black:
We are specifically not running these events as workshops. There will be a short 10-minute, facilitated Q&A session after the presentation, but after that we want to use the time at the venue for discussions in smaller groups, for mingling, getting to know each other and networking.

The Black Collingwood

Collaborations are the key to positive and effective action on climate change and biodiversity loss. Nobody can do it on their own.

Whatever your focus – environment,  transport, urban planning, communication, food security, health, change management, behavioural psychology, finance, etc., you have a part to play in protecting the environment we live in and finding ways to address climate change and biodiversity loss.

Drinks are available from the bar.  The Black does not offer food at these events, however food can be ordered via food delivery services.

The event is open to the public and all are welcome. Due to current COVID19 physical distancing requirements, RSVP will be required.

A gold coin donation would be appreciated to cover the venue hire.
