Cooma is the gateway to the beautiful Snowy Mountains; home to incredible natural wonders including Australian icon, the Platypus!
Join us for this free family-friendly event hosted alongside the Cooma Multicultural Centre as we spot, photograph and record platypus sightings in Cooma for scientific research. Don't miss this chance to get up and close with this elusive creature.
What: Citizen science platypus spotting
Where: We'll be meeting at the Cooma Multicultural Centre before heading off to our platypus spotting destination close by. ACF will provide transport. Platypus are most active at dawn and dusk - please arrive on time at the Centre as we'll be leaving promptly at 3.45PM to get the best chance of spotting them.
What to bring?
- Warm clothing - temperatures can get down to 4 degrees in winter! ❄️
- Binoculars (optional) 🔎
- Phone/camera - to get a photo of platypus 📷
- Notepad to take notes of what you see ✍️
RSVP is essential so we know numbers for the bus. Places are limited!
