Hi Everyone,
Julie and Maureen here from the ACF Perth Community Group.
We're very excited to let you know that Dr Chris Curry will talk with us at our July 13th meeting on the topic "What is it about gas?" This is an opportunity to really understand the impact of gas as a carbon rich fuel - to understand what carbon capture and sequestration mean, or carbon storage - and what exactly is being captured. What sort of gas are we talking about? Is there any safe way to use gas? How does this impact on the atmosphere and oceans? If you don't have a science background but would like to understand the concepts and not just the jargon, this talk will be helpful for you.
Dr Chris Curry has an amazing background as an emergency physician who has worked with Australian high-altitude mountaineering teams as well as busy Perth Emergency Departments. He has studied environmental sustainability at Murdoch University and is an active member of Doctors for the Environment Australia.
Our meeting will be at Palms Business Community Centre, cnr Rokeby and Nicholson Rds Subiaco on July 13th at 7 pm. The presentation will be about 30 minutes with 10 minutes for questions. We will have a brief ACF update after the talk, finishing at about 8pm.
If we are in Covid lockdown, we will zoom instead and I'll send the link closer to the time.
Look forward to seeing you. Please RSVP to this event as the venue has limited capacity.
Cheers,
Maureen and Julie
