Join a #ClimateStrike on Friday 15 October and support the School Strike 4 Climate movement in their call for climate action now.

It’s been incredible to see this movement of young people strengthen since their first Australian strikes in 2018. We’ve seen more and more students stepping up in their local areas, uniting their communities in a clear call to our government for climate justice, First Nations-led solutions and safe, future-proof jobs.

It’s been inspiring and humbling to stand alongside the students as they adapted in the pandemic, holding a huge digital rally last year and smaller in-person rallies in May to keep everyone safe and active.

Now, dozens of strikes – online and in-person – are about to take place across the country.

As pressure ramps up for Prime Minister Scott Morrison to commit to net zero climate pollution by 2050, now’s our time to unite in calling for a plan for how we’re going to cut pollution this decade.

Will you join the students in your area and help make this demand clear to our elected representatives?

The ACF team is committed to standing with the passionate, energetic strikers and their call for a safe future. Together we can protect our beautiful country and renew our communities with clean energy from the sun and wind – for communities now and into the future.

Of course, we do need to support the students safely, following all COVID restrictions and directions for our local areas.

These are COVID safe events – and some will be run online, where in person gatherings aren’t possible. Please observe the health advice around public gatherings and COVID restrictions for your state/territory. If attending an in person event, please bring your hand sanitiser and face mask, observe physical distancing, and do not attend if you feel unwell or have cold or flu-like symptoms.

Please keep an eye on the students’ page for your local event, and understand that things like permitted numbers of attendees can change at short notice.

Thank you for your support of the students. Together we are powerful.

If you can’t find a strike near you, are restricted by RSVP numbers, or aren’t able to join in person, then take action instead by raising your voice with Together We Can. This is a movement that both ACF and School Strike 4 Climate are part of. By sharing your climate action story you will help create The People’s Voice, which will be taken to Canberra in the lead up to the federal election to show our government just how many people want stronger action on climate.
