Where the money goes
How much of my dollar goes towards fighting cancer?Since 1928 Cancer Council SA has been working hard to defeat cancer, investing locally in cancer research, prevention and support initiatives for South Australia. This work has only been possible by the support of the community as Cancer Council SA is not a government funded charity.
Cancer Council SA produces an annual financial report which is audited by an independent auditor (KPMG in 2010) and produces an annual review to highlight the work undertaken (publicly available on our website).
While Cancer Council SA does not advocate using fundraising expense data to evaluate the performance of a charity - and points out we are also a provider of health services - we do acknowledge that this information offers important reassurance to some donors to evaluate that our fundraising investments return considerable funds for further research, prevention and support activities.
Audited data from Cancer Council SA’s 2010 annual review calculates:
Why unite in the fight against cancer with Cancer Council SA?Today in South Australia, 25 people will hear the words ‘you have cancer’ for the very first time. That’s one every hour… of every day… here in South Australia.
From the time you woke this morning until the time you sleep tonight 25 more South Australians will be diagnosed with cancer. Tomorrow there will be 25 more and the day after that … 15 of those 25 will survive, 10 won’t.
What would you do if it impacted your family and friends? Statistically, the chances are high and cancer doesn’t discriminate.
With your help Cancer Council SA is making a difference.
Survival rates have increased more than 30 per cent in the last two decades and together we can create an even better future for the people of South Australia.
Today, thanks to your donation:
We’ve done this today. What would you want for your family and friends tomorrow?
This year we needed double the funds to support all of the worthy cancer research projects presented to us.
Imagine what that could do when you consider the progress so far in South Australia:
Today and everyday all this is only made possible by your generous contributions… thank you.
